So I bought a '96 Mustang GT fan off eBay, which as pictured in the auction looked exactly like a '94-'95 stang fan. Three weeks later it finally gets here and the !@#$%^& thing looks nothing at all like what was pictured. Apparently, unlike the '94-'95 stang, Taurus, and Mark 8 fans, the '96-'04 stang fans have no intergrated shroud. It appears to be the same motor and blade, and I don't think that the lack of a big shroud will pose a cooling problem, but I can't figure out how the hell I am going to mount this thing into my '91.

Here is what the fan looks like:

Has anyone installed, or seen one of the '96-'04 e-fans on a foxbody? I'm sure with enough effort I could make it work, but I'm thinking it probably won't be worth the trouble...

Assuming I decide to just find another fan, does anyone have the REAL dimensions of the 3.8L Taurus fans and Mark VII fans? I keep finding conflicting information... Which one is thinner, and how thin can each be trimmed down to while keeping the shroud?

Also, does anyone know if one is louder than the other?

Depending upon where you live, I personally think the lack of shroud is a biggie (unless you're integrating it into the stock shroud or something).

The Taurus fan is definitely less thick (by about a couple inches) than a piggy Mark VIII fan. You cannot trim that much of a mark 8 because you'll get interferance issues.

Jrichker has you all hooked up with a nice mounting plan.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the 96 Cooling System is all alone as a 1 year deal as I usually see 97-04 stuff say that it can work on a 96 if you modify it to newer specs. If you are handy then I dont see why you cannot fabricate something, if not then the Taurus Fan sounds like a winner!

I dont see why any electric fan wouldnt work. Provided it moves enough air and it fits the radiator and clears the water pump pulley.

I personally run a Taurus dual speed fan. Not sure what year or engine its from. I wired the low side to a single 30A Relay. On Hot (100*+) days it works fine and temps are never above 200*. The fan is quiet enough not to be annoying yet loud enough to know its turned on.
