Picture This? Driving 100+ on a lonely freeway when your hood starts to shake and vibrate really bad. Question? Anybody ever think about cutting under the hood scoops to make the scoops functional. You think it would be better because it gives the air that is coming at you some place to go. Plus it would help cool the engine. Would making them functional work?
Thanks

It might help keep engine temp. down a bit, but thats about it... "Functional" as in a type of ram-air, would require finding/fabricating some sort of piping to go from the hood scoops to the MAF meter.

Thanks for the reply. But I am not too worried about gaining HP. I am more worried about allowing the air to escape so it does not rip my hood off my car. Anybody else have this problem while driving at high speeds?

I've driven 135+ numerous times and my hood has never shaken to the point where I noticed it.

That's why I have hood pins!

Also, air passing through the openings would cause lift....would actually pull up on the hood...not push it down.
