Just replaced the H-Pipe and put a Magnaflow Exhaust on and it still sounds like it is back firing or at least makes a sound like that when I get on it. Anybody know why I am getting that sound? Thanks.

If it's an o/r H-pipe it'll sound like that...it's the nature of not having the cats to take care of the unburned fuel in the pipe...the backfiring is from the unburned fuel igniting in the exhaust...

i never had a sound like back-firing when i get on my cobra with my off road h pipe....however downshifting you can hear it pop due to the unburned fuel....i like the sound but like i said never really noticed it popping during acceleration...just my $.02

Thanks Guys, yes it is an off-road H-pipe. So in order to get rid of that sound, I need to put the cats back on. Is that right?

My car does the same thing, but does more of it when its cold. Once it heats it kinda milds down a little bit. Downshifting to 2nd while doin 25mph below always does it.

Mine did it when I put flowmasters on my offroad h-pipe. It would only do it on 5-7k quick shifts and not on a powershift for whatever reason. I lost a turndown at 7k in 3rd gear from a backfire!
