--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just bought a 97 cobra and I have a few issues and questions. #1. The power steering pump has gone bad or has a leak so how hard is it to replace? #2. I think the brake booster may be bad but when I drive the car it brakes fine... when I'm at a light with the pedal pressed it feels like it's grinding or something. What could that be? The car has 70432 miles on it right now. Also its suppose to have 3.73's on it. In 5th gear @ 60 it's turning 2200rpm. A mile comes up in 8/10th's rather than 1 actual mile. I paid 8000 for it with a Cobra R svo hood but i want the orginal so if anyone wants to trade for a 96-98 hood contace me @ 601-813-4190. My car is black. It also has a BBK cold air intake. Oh the big question which lincoln Mark VIII block interchanges and will any mods have to be made if i wanna swap all my other parts off my current engine. Planning on buying all forged internals with a -16cc dish piston.

I think you have hydroboost so #1 and #2 are all related to the bad power steering pump. The Haynes manual has pump removal and installation instructions.

Well, the power steering pump and brake booster will have to wait cuz the motor is going to have to be pulled. I found out someone welded one of the drain plug holes closed on the front put there is a small pin hole leak that isn't present unless the car is at an angle with the rear raised. This ****ing sucks! I just bought the car! Oh well ... good reason to go ahead with the rebuild. I don't know whether to buy a crate Mach 1 motor from ford for 5700.00 or go ahead with a rebuild on the current motor. I want the Mach 1 engine cuz it's a quick fix but outta my price range and it'll give me time to learn and build up the current motor. Plus i like the idea of keeping my alum block.

Can I swap my cobra intake onto a Mach 1 engine? I know my cobra comes with (b) heads so I'm not sure if the ports will line up.

for $5700 you could have a badass motor. Dont look at placeslike that for motors, get on ebay or in the classifieds. I found an 04 cobra motor and trans with low miles that went for $3500 for everything on ebay. Just food for thought.

My hood is also black. I'll try and take pictures tomorrow and post them of my car. I also have to replace the GT front bumper with the cobra bumper once it's painted. I don't know why someone would take off the cobra bumper for the gt?? As far as the engineis concerned.. I'm thinking of going with a quick fix. A summitracing rebuild kit for 780.00 and some forged rods for 360.00 Will a oil pan from a crown vic 4.6 liter fit my engine? I have a complete (minus intake) 4.6 I no longer plan on doing anything with but I hope I can use the oil pan.
