My Sister in Law has a Grand Am that locks the doors whenever the key is on and you close the doors. She has locked her keys in the car multiple times. We don't have a manual for it. Does anyone know how to turn this annoying feature off? Thanks.

there's probably a fuse that it goes through. There may be other things she wants running through that same fuse, however.

I'd say if you can find the sensor that tells it that the doors are shut and disconnect it, that would probably do it. It's probably in near the hinges similar to how there is a button in there that turns the dome light on when the door is open.

Good Luck.

Maybe take it to a dealership. My mom's Jeep has something similar, and it can be turned on and off at a dealership.

As mentioned the feature is often turned on and off in the brain itself, not a mechanical adjustment.

Might try to query/search a GrandAm forum. They have a few popular ones out there.
