97gt can't spin tires?

My 96GT Vert-stick-couldnt chirp 2nd when it was practically stock. BBK O/R X pipe only. That thing weighs a ton! I just got mine weighed at 3670, with me and half a tank of gas. I no longer have that problem

just to point out a few reasons why: 215hp, auto, vert, crappy heads. if you do a pi headswap you'll definatley be able to spin them.

I just bought a 96 gt with the same crappy heads and i can light up 2nd if i want (5spd tho)
I think everyone else is right...you prolly got drivetrain issues. You just found this out now?? you should never buy a car before you burn rubber in it first. You shouldda seen my test-drive...got back to the dealer and my back bumped was full of melted rubber.l

I have a 96GT and I always roast the tires whenever I race. Well that was back when I first got the car. It used to chirp when I shifted to 2nd. Now it hasnt chirped them in a while. I can do it if I power shift though.

I've (somehow) chirped second in my mom's 24V Taurus (aka the POS). My old ranger (119hp I-4 + 4-speed Auto), I could make some serious clouds of smoke with that thing.

Brake stand it. It will spin the tires then.

Have you done any maintenance to it? A clogged air filter, old spark plugs and dirty injectors will nail your power and mileage. Those are cheap fixes so it might work it try them first. You could also have decent tires that hook well...does it spin up fast once you get rolling?
