Hi, recently traded my 97 GT for a 98 Cobra and last week my battery was dead(on the cobra), I brought it in and charged it overnight. next morning i put my meter on it and it was completely dead so I bought a new one.

After I get back with the battery and go to put it on I run into the first problem :both of my battery wires are black, both connectors same size, instead of one bigger/smaller... ya you guessed it I put it on the wrong way .... sparks fly. Hook it up the right way and my battery light is on the whole time. car drives a little while and completely dies so I checked/changed fuses and charged the new battery up, put it back & car cranks but dies quickly - guess I fried alternator

So I change the alternator out and now the car won't start at all - checked fuel line @ front - No gas. Spray ether and car cranks fine but dies if gas is pressed. Checked Inertia switch and it's fine so I determine the pump is not working - it does not do anything when the key is in the ON position. I change the fuel pump and filter for good measure.

Car still won't crank, I hear the new pump kick on if the key is turned to on, I'm getting 12 volts @ sending unit - and all the fuses are good there is some gas getting to front but it's not shooting out like normal if you press the relief valve... any advice??

The car "won't crank" as in it will turn over but will not fire up, right?

Check your Haynes or owners manual where they describe the fuses or more specifically the relays...

I seem to remember a relay used for high to low ops of the fuel pump but am not certain.

Ps I have also hooked the battery up wrong during a jump-start... and fried a relay.

It turned out to be the PATS,Transciever Theft light bulb in instrument cluster was bad, replaced it and it blinks like crazy, not recognizing the key, I only got 1 orignial key so I took it to dealer and got it rekeye, still doesn't recognize it so it's transciever, waiting on new one now.
