i believe they are the same intake manifold. the differences were in the computer tuning IIRC.

ya, but you are really better off with PI heads and cams. they are smog legal and will really wake your 96 up.

actually, the only thing you REALLY need is the pi intake.. if you get(or make) adapter plates to smooth out the transition in the ports.. the pi intake swap gains like 35 hp by itself, the heads to gain alittle more, but if money is tight the intake is by far the worst part on the early motors..

edit: there is an article in mm&ff about it i belive.. and really it wouldnt be that hard at all to make the adaptor plate out of a plate of alum, just get the 2 gaskets, trace and grind

Sorry to hijack this thread, but does anyone know where you can get adapter plates for the pi intake, premade? Detroit speedworks near my house sells a kit with the pi intake and adapters but they want something like $650, which is too high in my opinion.

I did the intake and cam swap total cost: $290 (no need for adapter plates, the ports are only like 1/4 inch off on the inside of the runner, which is a low pressure area of the runner anyway)

A friend of mine has a 00 GT vert, bolt ons & lontube headers, made 250rwhp on dyno this spring. Ran 13.4X@100+ at norwalk last fall.

Friday night i asked if he wanted to run for fun just to see what would happen since My best Time was 2 weeks after i put the parts on and i had water on the #4 plug and STILL ran a 13.90 with 85* heat and 90% humidity.

We get on a large highway go to about 30-35 and 3-honks we go, i pull half a car immediatly(gears, his are 3.27) then he climbed Side by Side when i shift into 4th and he started pulling a little bit, at the top of 4th around 100-105 my nose is on his rear bumper and we are both suprised as hell.

I'd like to thank ford making PI parts

well the camshafts are in the heads so thats easy. the whole procedure is pretty straightforward. i would say that the only bad thing is the increased compression ~10.65:1 which doesnt allow the use of higher boost. on a scale of difficulty its harder than doing a 5 liter, but not as hard as doing heads on a 4v navigator with the body still on.
