I'm just wondering if anyone here can provide first-hand knowledge about the new BBK 4.6l SOHC valve covers. They look awesome but all I've heard is how they're next to impossible to install due to the allen junk. I do all the work on my car myself and like to think I'm semi-proficient at what I do, but I'd like to hear from somebody who has actually performed the install in order to determine if the covers are infact within my skill level....They sure look amazing though!

One of the guys on my local car board got a pair in not long ago, I sent him a message to see how hard the install was. I agree the BBK cam covers look awesome

he's got a discount for message board members.

I love'em, install is not to bad,I had to take every thing off of mine anyway (getting ready to install blower) so it wasn't a big deal. I'd say average person could do it in a few hours. there's actually a small how to, in the back of the latest 5.0 mag

I second the Breed covers. They are very high quality.

I don't have any first hand knowledge about the BBK's - but a buddy of mine was able to check a set out and he said that the BBK's don't have nearly as much material as the breeds and they don't have an internal baffle. I don't know why they wouldn't have a baffle though.

Since you are going to take your covers off, why don't you just get them powder coated (Any color you want) for a hundred dollars and then put them back on?

I have the Breed covers and love them! I never looked into the BBK because I didn't want their logo on it. I had a custom engraving done on mine.

how can you powder coat the stock ones. They are composite and the material that the powder coat sticks to has to be metal because that is where it is grounded at.

you can paint the stockers. they actually look really good when painted.

I don't know how they do it, but I tim @ t and j is selling powdercoated valve covers.. pretty inexpensive as well

Go with the Team Breed valve covers. I had them do some custom engraving of the 35th anniversary emblem for an additional $45. These things are awesome. Plus I don't have to have a manufacturers name in big block letters all over my engine.

I vote for the Breed covers. They look great and don't say "BBK" in HUGE letters all over them.

Thanks for the help guys, I think I'll do the Breed covers. They look solid (I don't like the idea of having a huge "BBK" emblazoned on my engine either) and from what I hear it won't be too arduous a task to get them on.

I think they sell aluminum covers. Powder Coating requires that the item being coated be heated up to 475 degrees. Plastic won't handle it.

I got the Breed covers, but after sitting all winter they became corroded with a white powder. I have tried every polish but they are pitted. Anybody have this problem?
