hey, i am about to make a purchase on a 99 cobra but i am having trouble deciding what color and interior to go with! here are my three options: 1. black with tan interior with 29k miles and no warranty. 2. black with charcoal interior with only 5k miles and no warranty. 3. rio red with charcoal interior with 45k miles and it has the extended warranty good until may 2005. the color i first liked was the rio red, but then i started thinking it was a huge cop magnet, especially with me, a 20-year old driver in it. but maybe any cobra is a cop magnet regardless of color? i also thought red might be a color that is easier to get sick of than black because it is so flashy? i like the blacks too, but i know they take alot more work to keep them looking good. as far as interior goes, what does anyone have to say about tan vs. charcoal? does your charcoal interior get pretty hot, or is it not bad? i like the combination of the rio red with the dark interior. it's such a tough decision to make, so somebody please give me some input and help point me in the right direction! also, does anyone know if Ford will still do the 99 cobra recall fix on one if it is not under warranty any more? on the black one with 5k miles the owner is not sure if it has had the fix because he inherited it from his uncle who passed away.

prices

also, here are the prices i am going to pay for each cobra:

Rio Red with 45k miles & warranty- $14,200
Black with tan int. and 29k miles- $14,750
Black with charcoal int. and 5k miles- $16,250

let me know what you think. is 5000 miles almost too low? he says his uncle who owned it drove it on sundays and that's it. should i be worried that it sat for any long periods of time without being driven, or should i just be stoked that it only has 5000 miles and is basically a brand new car still?

woops

woops, just found out the black one with only 5000 miles does actually have an extended warranty "Extra Care" good until 60,000 miles or may 2005. i'm liking the sound of 5000 miles and an extended warranty for another year...... $16,250 sounds like a good price for that, right?

I've had red cars all my short life (23yrs), and wanted a change. Now I have black and wish I had taken the red Cobra when I had a shot. Black shows dirt much worse than red does. Red is a 'cop magnet' but then again, don't drive like an idiot and you have nothing to worry about anyway, right? It's not like anything about you being pulled over is written in stone, right? I think the loud exhaust that the car has/will have will get you pulled over quicker than a color, but that's just my opinion.

Although, that 5k w/ warranty does sound quite tasty..I bought mine Sept 02 w/ 32k for $15,500..sounds like you're getting a better deal than me Just make sure that the car hasn't been in a wreck. Take it to body shop, have them look at it. ALSO, do NOT buy a can with an aftermarket sunroof. You will want to kill the owner over the $1800 repair bill, believe me

black looks really good when it is clean but so does red. but the difference is how much work it takes to keep a black car clean. I will never own anouther black car after this one. red or silver.

I'd go with black, and not only because I'm partial...Red is a cop magnet..Black doesn't stick out nearly as much and it looks amazing when it's clean...

My vote is for red (but then my 99 is Rio Red so I might be biased)

The GT I had prior was black. I was tired of black when I got the Cobra. Someone commented that it looks amazing in red - REALLY liked it.

Still, that 5000 miles is TASTY. Car is almost brand new. Does it still have the new car smell?

I would go w/ red. Sure your get noticed more, but I believe having any Mustang you become a cop magnet. I've only been pulled in my red mustang once, and of course, it was at night on a dark road

The black one with 5k sounds like the best deal. You can't go wrong with black, or red in my opinion.

Go with Black! If its a daily driver it will be hard to keep clean, but if it's not - much easier to keep clean. Rain is the enemy on a black car. I'm alil partial to black because of mine. Just my 2cents worth

Either color will look awesome! However, I'm kinda partial to black. Good luck, you'll love either one.

Dude, go with the black one with 5K miles and warranty. All of us Cobra owners should keep our cars clean anyway. Also see if you can talk the guy down another $1000 or so. He has nothing to lose and you might get lucky. Sounds like a sweet deal to me. Good luck!

Good for You Black and Red are both dynamite colors.

A radar gun doesn't care what color your car is...

The condition and price of the car should be the major considerations, in my opinion.

I think you chose wisely!

Enjoy your Cobra

5K miles for 16ish. Seems a good deal. Try for 15,500. Personally I like the Rio Red color and would take it over black, but looking at the 45k miles vs 5k and 29k it would be a tough choice for just 700 difference.
