My car has been missing for a few weeks now. It seems worse on the interstate crusing around 70mph. sometimes its really light, sometimes it jerks hard. i replaced all the plugs and coil packs. i also swapped computers and its still missing. the car also has a new fuel pump and filter. it was missing before all of this. any ideas...??? thanks....also it will not throw a code

Hey, just sell me that old stang and u can your old lady something else to drive other than your Lightning :D

lol.......you can get it real cheap right now, shes nearly wore the drag radials out on the lightning...i found out what my other problem was though. the wires nside the gas tank were shorting out causing the pump to stay on while the car wasn't starting. that was my p1237 code.........the car has been missing for quite some time though. its just getting worse. im gonna try carls maf tomorrow or thursday, hopefully that will fix it.

I have got some more info. on this problem, it finally threw a code. its progessively getting worse. the code is p0605. (internal ctrl module rom error) i just got home, so im about to do some more investigating on this code. I did however swap to my other computer i have (i have 2 computers coded with my keys) and it still misses and threw the code again. i then tried it without the chip and it still threw the code after a few miles. it didn't seem to miss as bad without the chip until i got on the interstate at a good crusing 70mph. also the car seems to be fine uder full acceleration, it just at crusing speeds when it starts acting up.

I am having the same problem with my 01'. I have had it checked for codes, I have cleaned the I.A.C. and MAF, changed the fuel filter, changed the plugs, reset the computer, and it still misses only at cruising speed. Let us know what you find out!!

its probably a bad ignition coil

I have bought another COP, but I have not had the car checked to find out which one may be bad. I went a head and got one since a guy on wanted $15. Figured I would need it eventually.
What is the best way on having it checked without paying major bucks. Thought about just trying it on each one.

The best way to check which one it is is by trial and error(or at least its the cheapest way). Just take the new one and start swaping it out with the other coils one at a time until you find the bad one........I just read where it says you replaced all your coil packs, by that do y ou mean all 8 ignitioin coils??? that must have been expensive if you went through ford, they wanted to charge me 150 EACH.

i had a similar problem and i tried everything u did and still couldnt find the problem. i messed around with my car yesterday and found that the tube from the pcv valve to the upper intake was leaking and causing it to miss. i replaced it yesterday and the car is running great. no missing and no misfire codes but that will probably change in a few weeks with my luck. try checking for vacuum leaks and stuff that has to do with your air induction. not all the time is it electical or fuel. hope this helps and good luck.
