Ok, so here is my problem...sorry but this might be kind of long :(

So the other day my engine starts making a sqeeking/sqeeling noise. Real bad...So i thought it was the belt. I changed the belt and that was NOT it. My buddy looked at it and listen to it, and he said its my a/c compression. The clutch is going out in it.

Now i trust his judgement, so i think he is right. But i want to hear what SN has to say, or if anyone has had this problem before.

The noise started back on like tues or wed. And its not sunday. Its been getting louder and louder and worse....Now the a/c barley works if at all. And I'm starting to smell what i think is an elcitrical fire or buring. This is the part that worries me.

I dont know what could be burning or what is melting, but it smells real strong, the smell started coming through the A/C.

I poped the hood and everything looks ok, from what i can tell.

Does anyone know what this could be or had this type of an issue before?

I have a 2004 GT Vert with 43k miles. it has a CAI, BBK T/B, Trick Flow Plenum, Mac Pro chamber, Mac C/B, FRPP Aluminum D/S, FRPP 3.73's and a diablo predator.

I dont think my mods have anything to do with this problem.

FYI a little history, I had to take the car to the dealer, becuase some how the stock belt got ate up. I have stock pullies and have never messed with them. One day i lost one whole entire section of my belt becuase it got eaten up some how. Also it has been to the dealer 4 times for a power stearing pump problem. This was all covered under the factory warr, when my stang had like 10-20k miles on her.

Now this.... :notnice:

I'm going to take her to the dealer in the morning and i hope that this will be covered under my extended warr. I'm a little worried becuase I dont want them to see all the stuff I have done to her. But it's like I dont know what to do, and I can kind of deal with out the A/C....But this burning elictrical smell has me REALLY REALLY worried. :(

Thanks in advance SN

P.S. This is my Daily Driver and my only car. :(

mine did the same thing, the hub on mine was coming apart according to the dealer, mine went out at 8,000 miles fortunitly. that fixed it for a day then something else went bad, i think it was the entire compressor was bad on mine, and they replaced it. it works great now.

really? ahh ok. well i really hope my extended warr covers this....Did you have a burning smell also?

What is it thats burning? whats this damn smell?

What cuases this to happen?

In the last 2-3 weeks its been any where from 95-110 degress here in Sacramento, CA. I wonder if the heat or the extra use made it go bad quicker?

I really need to get this thing fixed asap. it was like 108 today :(

Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions????

The buring smell is the clutch on the compressor.
Mine did the same thing not too long ago. The hub went to crap and it was making a loud rattling noise. The hub would be rattling with the A/C off and be throwing sparks with the A/C on.

Cost about $125 from the auto parts store and about 2 hours of workin on it.

well i took her to the dealership this morning. They said that she will not get looked at till tomorrow. So i hope its covered....I'll let you know how it turns out and what they say.

Thanks guys

hey you think they will say anything about my mods?????

probally not, there not at all related to the A/C system... What warrenty do you have? most will cover the A/C compressor.

ahh ok...well i got my car back tonight. They replaced the entire a/c compressor and re charged it. it was like a 7 or 800 dollar bill....man. I'm glad i had that freaking warrenty...whew

So it ended up being that i guess the clutch burned out and the whole unit took a dump or something to that effect.
