so on the 88 gt that we just bought, it is suppose to have a/c, but the compressor is missing and the power steering pump is where the a/c should be. but the big problem is that no matter what it just blows hot air like its the middle of winter. I have reached under the dash to the door and I have pushed and pulled on it seems to move freely, but I guess I didn't check to see if it moved with he hvac controls..so heres the question. was the a/c delete done wrong, shouldn't I still be able to run the vent and get ambient temp air coming in the cab. we have done a couple 3 hrs trips and a couple 2 hour trips and some gravel, and the windows down for that long really gets old, and the gravel the dust gets ridiculous in side without the fan on..

With the AC deleted, the blend door should still operate normally. You'll just need to pull the HVAC controls out and see if moving the cable does move the blend door.

Have you considered just putting the AC back together and getting it to function? It's not terribly expensive. I have never, and will never understand the good ole "AC Delete" on a street car. makes ZERO sense to me.

Just get all the parts together and fix it all.
I too don't get it. Every time i see the AC deleted i feel like the car is owned by someone who rigs stuff in general.
All the parts of the AC total like 30lbs (if even) and cause zero hp loss when it's not on.
I bet it adds more value to the car than it costs to reinstall.

Because "racecar".

OP, we are going off topic, so don't feel this is directed at you in anyway.

But browse any of the FB groups and you'll see the "delete" mentality is strong for anything that doesn't translate to going fast(er). That goes for things other than AC like functional power door locks. You'll see posts asking how to delete things vs fixing them properly. As a result, cheap fox bodies tend to be total hack-jobs and run poorly.

I would love to put the a/c back in. Just not sure what’s all going on with the PS being moved and all. Guess I’ll have to figuout how to get at the controls and see if the door moves.

Take a Pic, probably has an ac delete where it moves the power steering up. Should be easy to undo.

What is going on with the ps being moved is someone removed the ac compressor and then moved the ps pump to the location where the ac compressor was. This is where the ps pump is on factory non ac cars. You just need to get the ac brackets and move the ps pump back down where it belongs and then put the ac compressor back on.

I work two hour from home. 7 on and 7 off. But it’s also harvest time so I have been home in 3 weeks. I’ll get some. Maybe I’ll text the boy to take a couple.

Ford Racing A/C delete. Common setup. You just need to track down the factory A/C brackets. Or buy this kit

Mustang A/C Compressor Bracket & Hardware Kit (85-93) 5.0

Replace your missing air conditioning compressor brackets with this high quality kit for 1985-1993 Mustang 5.0!

Not gonna lie. Putting AC back on will not be cheap. I'm in the middle of doing it and it's a PITA, but worth it.

The kit that is currently on your car to move the PS pump up is this kit

Ford Performance Mustang Air Conditioner (A/C Delete) Eliminator Bracket (85-93) 5.0L M-8511-A50

Looking to clean up the engine bay on your 1985-93 Mustang 5.0L? Purchase a Mustang Ford Performance A/C delete eliminator bracket today!

That’s stuff is on driver side. I don’t understand the a/c delete. But I guess I’ll try and find parts for a wrecker or something. Summer is coming to an end anyway. Thanks for the links.

First thing i would do is find a stock air box and add a K&N panel filter.
Looks like the silencer may still be in the fender, you can remove that (but i'd save it).
Also, hard to tell, but it may look like your inner fender wells are missing. Which is fine if you don't drive it in the rain or dirt, but you said you drive down gravel. If it is indeed missing, replace that too.
Then worry about the AC.
Because that intake is surely sucking up dirt.
