A/F ratio gauge

I was told not to hook my af gauge up to the 02 sensor itself. Why would this be a problem. I realize this is just a light show, and has basically no performance significance, but I want it to at least bounce instead of sit there dead.

I have 02 extenders to tie in, so I was hoping to hook the gauge up at the same time. there are 2 white, 1 black and 1 purple wire. which one is the sending wire, I would assume the purple.

any advice

I am not sure why, but I am sure someone will tell ya. Just probably dont do it.
Any way, I just followed the harness back and I tapped in right in front of the oil pan. For the right O2, use the grey wire with a light blue stripe , and for the left O2, use the red wire with a black stripe.
I also hooked up a toggle so I could switch back and forth to see if they are operating differently, because the "light show" should be the same for both sides.

Edit: I do realize you have the heated O2's unlike my fox. I did this to my brother's 94, in case anyone wondered.

thanks for the help. I will look for those wires tomorrow night when I start installing all this stuff. I feel like its my birthday, gotta huge order from jegs coming in tomorrow.
