I have a very small amount of pinging when I go up a steep hill and my question is what should I change in my Xcal2 to get ride of that? Also I'm going to change my neutral idle to 650-700 (its set at 800 right now), will this affect anything?

Detonation= terrible for the engine. Put higher octane fuel in the car (or try a different station), or back off the timing a few degrees.

Try re-installing your current tune and take out 2* of timing throughout the rpm range. If that doesn't help, take 2 more * out.

As far as changing your idle down to 650rpm's, I tried that and found that it was easier to drive from a stop with the idle at 800rpm's. That is just my opinion tho.

scupking:

I suggest that you pull 2 to 3 degrees of timing in the area (RPM & load) where pinging occurs. Before you do that, check and re-check the MAF function. If it is off a little, it screws up a lot of things.

For idle, try 15 to 25 RPM decreases at a time until you are happy with it. I also suggest increasing isc_idle_air_drive and isc_idle_air_neutral values BELOW the target RPM. This will help to prevent stalling when coming to a stop. You have to be careful that you don't have too aggressive dashpot_decay in the "near idle" RPM range, too.

HTH,

Chris
