Why ins't my car loud all around? I think i tried all the main exhaust stuff and still its only loud at 2500 than it quiets down. Yes, its louder than mostly all the other cars on the road, but its quiet compared to other stangs.

What is the problem? I know people with stangs who can shake the pictures in someone house while only cruising near the house @ very low rpm's. Yes, it might be dumped, but its still loud. Why does my car get quiet after 3500 rpm? I mean its doesnt get louder all the way through the rpm band.

My answer is my motor. Is the problem my nonpi heads/cams/intake? Im only asking this question b/c my buddy with the same setup as mine has a earthquaking loud system... on his 03 cobra. I know he has a WAY WAY WAY better car and all, but why the freak is mine stock quiet while crusing? While hes crusing in his 03 cobra its very loud and thats what i want. The second PROBLEM my other buddy with a Stock 01 GT has A SLP catback and stock hpipe and still louder than my 97 GT. I had a freaking 2 cat hpipe with a mac catback while he had slps and 4 cat hpipe and was loud as heck Right now with my flows and o/r prochamber hes louder than me and thats not right. A o/r h would be the same results and im done with it. I just want a loud car

My soultion to fix this plus clean up the turdness of my car:

Cams
Intake
Heads

Price: $2000

which i dont have lol.

Why would cams/head/intake cost $2000, are you talking installed?

Yep, im talking after everything is installed. Example- If i was just to get anonpi cam thatll be $800. But why would i get nonpi? Just for the sound? That would be a bad idea so i just thought of the PI h/c/i route.

I thought of doing that while changing my midpipe, but lowering the car from the jacks just to drive around for a few minutes is not worth it ;] I mean i heard cars with full exhaust+ tail pipes and there loud as heck ;[ I wonder how loud my car would be with an open prochamber. I know for sure the flows are quiet with cats so the flows are a problem. My mac flowpaths with my catted h was alot louder compared to the original flows! If i was to weld the macs back on with the o/r prochamber i would be alot louder, but thats not something im going to do at the moment since the flows sound good.

Sounds to me like you're going through the same dilema I go through at times. I love the way mine sounds, but there are several stangs around here that just scream compared to mine, yet most of them have the straight through style mufflers and except for SLP's on a Cobra, I dont really care for them. One guy has the 1 chamber flows...stupid loud and sounds good, but they would take some fabbing up to fit.

Looking on the flowmaster site though they have the "race" version of the 40's and you can get them in the same dimensions. I was thinking that might be a good alternative but I dont know of anyone that has them.

I agree on those electric cutouts. Also, opening up the intake tract should help things out. The way i see it is, more airflow=more sound.

I have always heard that an offroad h or x pipe will always be louder than an offroad prochamber. That being said, I love my prochamber. Mine is nowhere near the loudest around, but "I" think it sounds pretty awesome.

a catless h or x will be loud all around. i have a catless x with spintech side exit and holy **** is it loud as hell when i get on it. pretty mellow cruising, and silent if im using under 10% throttle (chilling in 3-4th gear through residentials at 20-25)

I got a complaint notice on my door from my apartment manager the other day. Apparently when I go to work at 3am and start my Mach I'm waking people up . I called the manager and she said whoever complained said I was REVVING my engine. All I do is start it and let it idle for 30 seconds. Thanks alot Bassani X and Magnapacks

no, i have a o/r prochamber and a nonpi motor. You have a pi gt :/ my friend has a 01 GT with stock h+LM1 and its loud all around. I had SLP LM1's and aftermarket catted H and my car wasn't loud all around, so thats telling me something. Thats why i say its the nonpi thats pissing me off.

then again youre also comparing a 4v supercharged motor to a n/pi 2v n/a motor. my cobra had a totally different tone than my GT, though barely audible over the eaton.

Yeah, it's not even fair to compare an '03-'04 Cobra to an older GT. I went today an watched a guy I know dyno his '03 Cobra. 535RWHP on a Mustang Dyno. I was behind him in my Mach. Man, that car was ensane loud just at idle sitting at a stoplight. Sounded completely badass.

All you have to do is get some SLP's or Magnapacks & it will scream all the time. i go through this from time to time too. Compared to all the other stangs I roll around with, my exhaust is pretty quiet. I love how mine sounds though, but at times I want more sound. All my buddies run Magnapacks with BBK off road x's, & their cars are insanely loud all the time. But i think all in all, I would rather mine be loud when I get on it, & mellow when cruising. Its not the non pi thing, but you cant compare 2V's to 4V's & especially supercharged ones.

I was thinkin about taking the Magnaflows off, & getting some Bassani's welded in though. Bassani's sound mean.

I only compared my car once to the 03 snake ;] what i mainly compare it to is my friends 01 GT. Gt and GT.. should be pretty close in sound, but i guess not. SLP mufflers will not solve the problem b/c i already had LM1's on my car and i can still cruise and be stock quiet while my friend 01 GT was able to cruise and have a loud popping noise (not rice popping but a nice tone).. WTF. I wanted that popping noise, but all i got was a quiet stock exhaust like sound. The only difference would be nonpi verus PI gt... :/

Anyways, more airflow would def. make the car louder all around i think, but thats when you mess with the h/c/i which cant do w/o money hah. I happen to ask another person with a 96-98 and o/r X and Flows and said his car also gets quiet after a certain rpm range. Well it loud, but the sound doesn't gain like it would on videos you hear online. Im postive its the car running out of breathe, but i read it was after 4500, but in my car runs out of breath at 2800 rpm which is where it gets quiet. Thus it getting quiet around there means not much air can get into the intake im guessing.

;] Sorry, this thread is really asking a specific question, but something on topic for the underdogs of the v8 mustang world.

If you want your NPI to be loud, get a 2 1/2" offroad x, with Flowmaster 10 series mufflers, and 3" dumps before the rear axle. No matter what engine you have, that system will wake the dead.

turndowns, the ehaust pipes turn down toward the ground right after the mufflers before the axle. causes a resonation sound and makes it a ton louder... but it also will let exhaust fumes in the car at a stop light
