can leak, new seals often fixes it, more body flex, but great for the sunny days! A ttop GT Hatch will be my next car!

Finding a good one for a good price is the only problem i see.
The rest can be dealt with.

I can't wait until the day i can own a t-top car. Sounds like that one is a fair deal. Seals will prolly leak, but i think it's worth it for being able to take the top off...

lol, you want to hear a story of a very stupid friend of mine. anyways, my friend donavon inherited a 87 t-top gt from his dad a few years ago (his dad ordered it brand new, lol he didn't buy it off a lot, he special ordered it!) anyways, don does the usual mods until he get a nitrious kit. he's now running consistant 12.7's with light mods and i think a 125 hit of nitrious. now heres the stupid part. he gutted his interior (and when i mean gutted, i mean everything including the door panels lol), took his fog light bracket off, both sway bars... the list goes on but heres the punch: he took his subframe connectors off to save weight too! lol im sorry, hes my friend, but what kind of idiot takes subbies OFF of a 12 second T-TOP CAR! lol i honestly question his intelligence sometimes. sorry for the long post, just thought i'd share

Is there a huge difference in body flex in a T-top than a 'vert?

T-tops were always strange to me. I mean either you want a 'vert or you don't. T-tops just don't seem like much of a compromise. They let more wind in but you don't get the same feeling; and if there is just as much body flex, why not get a 'vert?

I understand that. In that case I would love to own a T-top notch.

All I'm saying is that it seems like too much of a compromise without all the benefit. You have to tolerate leaks, and tons of heat due to the sun beaming through the glass. Then you if you have the same body flex as a 'vert without the true feeling of being out in the open, what's the point?

If it's a project car definately go for it. Like I said, I think a T-top notch would be awesome. I was just thinking that it would be a bit much to live with as far as daily use goes.

Did they make LX(hatchback) t-top cars in '87-'88? I know the T-top notch was only available prior to '86. But it seems like I've seen an '87 LX hatch with T-tops. That's what I'd go for. IMO, the GT look is just too dated.

the cost of new seals is astronomical. I really like t-tops though. less maintenance than on a vert. my mustang is my 3rd vert and I only got it becauseI basically stole it. T-tops feel great with the tops off. if you are worried about glare from the sun any confidant upholstry shop can make covers that fit under your t-tops and block the sun. I had them for my camaro. hot sun on leather scorched my nutz more than once. go for the t-top. the only problem is finding a decent one.

T-Tops....the styling of a hatchback GT, the open air of a convertable. Its the BEST compormise. I bought mine in horrible shape w/ the express purpose of redoing it.

The worst part about the seals is the felt/rubber bead that runs down the trim. Its riveted to the trim and you have to pull ALL that crap out to replace them. The gaskets aren't bad though, $300 for a full kit that goes all the way down to the floor. New gaskets == no leaks.

Also, what flex? Subframe connectors?

Theres nothing that can compare to cruising w/ T-Tops out.

I was going to buy a TTop GT 2 years ago until I crawled under the car and noticed the floorboard had fallen out! You wouldnt have known it by looking at the car either. The car had ALOT of flex and alot of wind noise and was a stocker driven by an older upper class dude that never really beat on it. I passed on that deal. Fox bodys with subframes flex enough, ttop car would be even worse.

Then again F-Bodys have always pushed the TTop thing and I never liked it on them either.
