Okay, sort of slogging through the wiring, and ran into an interesting little snag.

The kit came with two bags for the instrument panel, one marked 1966 and one marked 1965. Okay, no read flags, right? So, I put the 1966 one away (somewhere) and move on with the wiring. That was a few months ago. I'm doing this SLOWLY as it is warm here in Florida, and there's just no rush.

It's come time now to wire the instrument panel, so I bring it and the harness inside. Low and behold, the 1965 instrument harness doesn't fit. Hmmm, nope, doesn't fit. Then the red flags went straight up. They're NOT 1965 and 1966 harnesses. They're standard and deluxe instrument panels available both (actually, all three) years. Oh crap.

I go look for the 1966 harness. I don't remember tossing it, but hey, anything is possible. I'm still looking, but I decide to call Painless to see if I can't either exchange this "1965" one for a "1966" one or, crap, just buy another one. I get a nice man on the phone, tell him my problem, and he, in the most polite of ways, tells me that Painless allocates all components to complete harnesses, and they have no way of distributing individual components. Huh? It gets better. My ONLY option is to buy another COMPLETE harness, or look around to find someone with a "1965" instrument panel harness who didn't need one. Naturally he favored me purchasing a complete new harness ($900 - $1000?).

Evidently, I'm like the ONLY person who's done this . . . or ever needed any components for the harness other than what came with it.

So, I'm scouring EBay and whatever looking for one. Painless DID tell me to call back Monday and MAYBE they could figure something out. We'll see.

Granted, I should have caught the issue, and GRANTED, I should be able to find the other harness (and I still might), but you know, if you're going to run your operations like that, it would help matters if you put a little disclaimer in the literature like "DON'T SCREW UP ANYTHING because you can't get another one. You have to buy the whole kit, again." Sheesh . . .

Do you need the 65 harness? I still have the one that came in my painless kit. I needed the 66.

Actually, I have the '65 instrument panel harness . . . but it's not necessarily for a '65. It's for the standard panel with idiot lights. I need the one for the Pony interior. If you have THAT ONE . . . my brother . . . you may save me AND PAINLESS a headache.

Just checkd. Mine is for standard setup but i dont see why you cant take your standard one and convert it? Cut off the light sockets and add terminals. Just check the pinout and rewire that sucker.
