When you put the car in the on position should the ABS light go on? I have a suspicion that it is blown or unplugged . Winter is here in Sweden and I have had a couple of braking situation where I would expect the ABS to kick in but it didn't .As I understand the ABS light has a blinking sequence to help diagnose, similar to the CEL. No light hard to diagnose. Going to look at the cluster tomorrow.
Thanks!
Update: Took out the instrument cluster. Swapped around the bulbs and the ABS did not light up. Upgraded the lighting to LEDS. What a difference! Did the HVAC lights too.

Yes, when the key is switched it should go on to show that the bulb is working. Then if no probelms are found, the light will go off after a couple seconds.

Yup, should come on.

The light was probably on at some point so long the bulb blew out.

Go somewhere safe, and slam the breaks, you know, to see if it's working, or just for fun.

Did that. And didn't feel any ABS. Got the brakes to lock .Below freezing here ,so not a problem to get tires to lock under hard braking.

So it isn't on when you are driving though? If is isn't on constantly, it could be normal. It is 20+ year old ABS after all. I have spent a good bit of time in Norway, and understand your dilemma.

Best to try it out on a wet service in empty parking lot. You will feel and see the light come on intermittently. ABS was funny on my 94 and 95.
