Just checking on ac delete kits any preferences? tried to buy a belt to just bypass ac pully and no luck maybe under drives causing a problem there ,I just want ac unit gone to clean up engine bay a little

you can pick this kit up from summit cheap or on ebay. It will get rid of your A/C and move the power steering pump up.

Good post. I need one too. I have manual steering and a blower so I need a kit that actually has a pulley where the AC used to be. I've seen them but I don't know who makes them. Anybody?

Get the FRPP AC delete kit. I've had both this and the March kit. Very disappointed in the March kit.

I used a trick flow a/c delete from summit. It cost 29 bucks. It leaves your p/s in the same place and relocates your idler pulley on to the new bracket.

I love my UPR brand A/C delete kit. The previous owner of my car apparently figured all an A/C delete needed was a shorter belt, which resulted in the top half of the belt rubbing against the bottom half as it passed over the water pump pulley. Lots of squealing and powdery flecks of rubber all over my water pump and underside of my hood. Huzzah!

The UPR piece is essentially a big, shiny, billet aluminum bracket and idler pulley. Even comes with bolts and lock washers. You just bolt it right up in place of where your A/C compressor sat, and you get to use the stock-sized belt you had before. Looks nice, works great, and only cost about $60. Installation took a whopping 15 minutes (mostly spent struggling to get that stretched-on old belt off of there).

i am getting the FRPP kit where it moves the P/S pump up....

maybe it just me but the kits that just put in an idler pully look funny and tacky...

yup the motorsport kit will make the car just like a factory non-ac car

cleanest setup, no idler pulleys

dump the smog while your at it...then it's really clean, and the right side is ez'er to get to than the left for plug changing

I ordered the UPR kit - just waiting to find time to install it. Looks nice and seems to be constructed very well - plus even though their web order price was listed higher, I quoted their magazine ad price in the comments and they gave it to me.

UPR seems to have a billet aluminum fetish, but so far I haven't purchased anything from them that I haven't loved from the get-go. Still waiting for my cat'ed X-pipe to come in from them on Tuesday ... staring at the rest of my goodies that I'll be hooking up all that same time (Dynomax cat-back, FRPP driveshaft, new input shaft, etc.).

Tacky or not, the UPR delete kit looks like it'll hold up every bit as well as the others. Since most A/C delete kits cost under $100, I'd say it's mostly a toss-up between how much work you want to put into the removal/install and what you want it to look like, afterwards. Smog compliance also comes into play, as well, if you plan on deleting the air pump, too ... although there's an idler available for that, too. Sure, you could just unbolt the smog pump and run a shorter belt, but me, I just didn't feel like throwing down $30 on a new serpentine belt every time I wanted to change something. One good ol' Gatorback keeps me running just dandy.
