Well I received my hatch carpet from 50resto today and noticed along with the carpet itself came two pcs that appear to be cut for the back of the rear seats. Can anyone tell me how these two pcs install? they have the seat fold down release area cut out to allow the plastic covers to be placed over top cleanly, and I notice a pocket at the bottom of the pcs to assist securing the bottom of these pcs. My problem is on the back side of my seats the original carpet is sewn into place, and this carpet would be placed over top?? if so how?
Thanks,
D.

Yours are sewn into place? Not from the factory.

You take out the handles and cups. There are also a couple of screws in the carpet near the fold. You must take off the upholstery from around the three edges (sides and top). It is held on by 14 xmas tree fasteners. You should use the tool to do this with. If you go to 5.0 Resto's website, look up this part number - LRS-23942HDW. It shows what the tool and xmas tree fasteners look like.

I pulled the upholstery just off the edges. The carpet is then stapled to the plastic seat back. I removed the staples and the carpet. I then placed the new and used a pnuematic stapler with large staples to put it back. Used a punch to create the holes, put the upholstery back with new fasteners (or they won't hold), and put the cups back in.

Hope this helps.

I just did this also, I used a pair of pliers to pry off the cloth from the seat and carpet. I made holes in the carpet with sissors. I stapled it with a contractor type manual gun. Then I reinserted the fasteners to the seatback.

I have a huge photo of the before and after.

I also just completed this project. I highly recomend an electric stapler for attching the carpet and using the proper tool to remove the seat covers so the plastic fastners do not break.

As a side note, one month after going through all this work I replaced the seat covers with those from a 95 that has the carpet sewn to the seat cover!
