So long story short, when i added the torque arm a few years back i added the HD springs that go with it.
I've never liked how the back sat. Was clearly too high.
With the MM three link there is no settling, so i knew it wasn't going to get lower over time and it didn't.
MM suggested taking out the isolators and using electrical tape on one end.
Fast forward to today, i decided to remove them.
A couple observations, first off, a torque arm will hang way lower than a 4 link. So much lower i'm lucky i didn't damage the brake hose. If the bracket for the brake hose was in better, surely i would have ruined it. Second of all you have to make sure whatever you jack up the car with doesn't block the arm itself or it won't come down.
Fairly simple for me to do on my lift with a slide jack, remove shock bolts, take off the non adjustable side of the PHB and raise the car by the middle of the subs.
Instead of tape i wrapped the top in rubber tape that I use for electrical work, 1 inch wide and allows you to go around the top and then stretch it all into place. No way it was going through the coils without being a mess. The tape is used for electrical services overhead and will tolerate the weather.
Starting height measured from my lift ramp to fender center was 25 3/4 nearly exact.
New height Just a hair below 25 1/4.
I'd call it a 1/2 inch drop.
It's absolutely noticeable. So noticeable that when i get the car out, i'm afraid the front may be high.
And these isolators i've had for a long long time, so they were as flat as they were going to get.
To be clear i really didn't want to do this. I prefer to have them in place. But i also didn't want to buy a set of weight jackers to replace my like new extreme duty MM arms or switch to coil overs which require machining like new bilsteins.
I didn't drive it yet, so i don't know if it makes a difference, but whatever it is, i'll accept it for now at least.
I'm going to get the car actually aligned, so this is one project i needed squared away.
