I am in the process of doing a 5-lug conversion...I only have a few more parts to get. While looking at Jegs I saw this:
-----------------------------------------------------
Aerospace Components Mustang Manual Brake Kit

If you are looking to convert from power assisted brakes to a manual system, this kit has what it takes. It includes a billet aluminum firewall adapter (in place of power booster), new master cylinder and hardware. It will work with the OEM disc/drum system or aftermarket 4-wheel disc conversions.
-----------------------------------------------------
Is this good, bad or otherwise? Has anyone used it? Thanks for any help.

On a street car, I don't think I would want manual brakes but that is just my opinion. Maybe for a weekend car that needs the extra clearance or on a track car that is trying to save weight?

Without the booster, your foot [leg muscle] becomes the only force pushing on the brake calipers. Your cars stopping power will decrease because there is no way your leg is stronger than a vacuum assisted booster. This is why I said you shouldn't try running this on a car you intend to drive on a regular basis.

It is hard stopping the car with manualy brake, but in the motor comparment it frees up a good amount of space, and makes changing the plugs easrier (atleast on the 351W or big block cars).

Its not as bad as you might thing though,as the brake kit comes with an adjustable pushrod. You drill a new hole in the brake pedal and that changes its levelrage so it makes it a little easier.
