I know peeple will tell me to go with 205 afr but would the 185's be a decent head for a 351w? i have a line on a set of heads for cheap. half the price of them new. let me know what you all think.

Yes they will be a good head for a 351. What are you looking to do?

I don't think a head swap alone is gonna be worth it. I think a swap to a custom cam with valve springs and a 1 3/4" longtube header with a 3" exhaust will be better for you.

well a custom cam could be an option my best buddy's uncle has a cam shop. i was thinking about getting a roller cam for my car anyways. long tube headers and the exhaust probably won't happen anytime soon as i have a 2 year old and a 4 month old. i have a F-150 with a 302 that is begging for my holley heads. on desk top dyno there is a 20 - 25 hp difference on my current combo between my holley heads and afr 185's.

If the holley heads are what you have on your car now, I'm not to sure you will see much of a difference with the AFR's. But if they are a good buy then try to make some money off of them by reselling them. The holley heads have very comparible flow numbers with the 185's. Both heads are great choices.

my holley heads are gen 1 heads with the 1.94 intake and 1.60 exhaust. I figure maybe the newer holley heads would be closer to thte AFR's as they now run a 2.02 intake valve. i guess i should just continue to look for a deal on a set of used AFR 205's get myself a solid roller custom cam and eventually stroke this Windsor out.

You could get bigger valves, drop the heads off at the machine shop to cut the vavle seats and do a valve job. Then you can get a porting kit and put them toghter your self.

Like the deluxe porting kit for SA comes with a head porting guide.Actualy here you go: http://www.sa-motorsports.com/diyport.shtm

My suggestion would have been port and polish as well.
