So the when I got my car about a month ago I had a feeling the exhaust was aftermarket but I wasn't completely sure. Today my buddy who has a 2002 GT came over and we compared and the exhaust on my 99 is definitely aftermarket...much much louder. Is there any way to tell what kind of exhaust is on my car? I'm assuming one of the previous owners just slapped some mufflers on since the exhaust tips look stock. I haven't been able to get under the car enough to see if any thing else has been done with the exhaust but is there anything to look for (besides X/H pipe which I didn't think to pay attention to when I glanced under) to see what kind of mufflers may be on the car?

Yes, a visual inspection would go a long ways. First, look to see if you still have the OEM H pipe with 4 or 6 cats (probably 4 for you). Then, look for a brand name or other words on the muffler. That's pretty much the only way to tell.
