AHH...Z28 tech.

Just thought I would throw a change of scenery in here. Be glad we dont have Camaros to work on guys! Changing springs on the F-bodies is not too fun. Here are some pics from the job I did on my friend's 98 Z tonight.

My friend has a 95 t/a (he isnt very handy) and had drag springs installed and cost him ALOT.

looks like a pretty nice setup your buddy has got goin there....it may be difficult to work on em but i enjoy working on cars no matter what it is....

you know im just glad my camaro isnt new. i have the old fenders off and as soon as i get done sand blasting and painting the frame all the new suspension stuff goes on without anything being in the way.

Done the same thing on a buddies 97 camaro before a snow storm caused it to roll down a bank. Anyway the front was a bitch since they are on the strut. The back was a lot easier since the spring was just on the axle and not like the front. Almost took out my knee trying to compress the spring and get it off the strut and the compressor jumped off. That is not a fun experience.

Everything on those car is a PITA to do. I swear, my g/f's LT1 gives ya 20x the headache any of my Stangs have.

The thing is he has coil overs.. compared to our crappy spring and strut sitting on different parts of the A-arm. I would gladly take that headache for the less wight and better cornering.

Just my 2 cents here but coming from a long time F-Body owner such as myself i would have to agree that F-Bodies are MUCH harder to work on then mustangs. There is much less space to work with under the hood. When i pulled the Engine out of my Z-28 i never really "pulled" it, i dropped it out the bottom by removing the K-member, seemed the easiest way to do it and was still a pain in the butt. Although i may get flamed for this, say what you will about Camaros or Trans Ams.....There fast as hell from the factory and i think they were probably the best performance based car you could buy for under 30k new. High 12's on a bone stock car with nothing more then slicks....thats impressive. Although i now own 2 mustangs now because they dont make F-Bodies anymore....my 01 Z28 will always be the fastest of my cars and in my oppinion the F-Body will never be forgotten.
