hello ladies and gentlemen,
I have a 99 that has deployed air bags and my qustion is to you:
how to disable the beep going on under dash?the black box that the noise comes from has three plus with wires.when i unhook the middle plug the siren stops but I loose power to windshild wiper motor etc. and car will still run so I hooked back up.Can I do anything other than taking it to ford and forking out 69.95 to get it turned off?
Thanks for help:SNSign:

Ford will not be able to help you with that. It's against the law for them to do anything with the airbag system besides return it to operating condition. They are not allowed to disable airbags, or turn off warning lights or buzzers.

In my last car, the buzzer only turned on because the airbag warning light was removed from the dash. The system is designed to make it as difficult as possible to operate the vehicle without airbags, and that is why Ford won't help.

If you want to keep running the car without airbags, the only thing you can do is open that control unit up and find the buzzer. Cut its wire or twist it to break it off the circuit board. Just be aware that you could be personally liable if you are in an accident and your passenger is injured because the airbag didn't fire. A lawyer would have a field day with that!

on top of that if you sell the car and a second or subsequent owner gets hurt, you could be ehld liable for that also
repair the air bag system so you don't get hurt and the buzzer will stop

the buzzer is used as a secondary warning system, as mentioned before, if the warning lamp doesn't work then it has an audible warning
