I have a 93 Mustang 5.0 with the fuel pressure set at 35 lbs. Lately I've been having a problem with it idling funny...sometimes it idles fine and other times it just quits. With it idling, I've tried disconnecting the eletrical connection to the air idling sensor, give it gas, and it still idles with it disconnected...is that supposed to happen? Everything is stock with an Accufab 65mm throttle body and a K&N filter. It started after I fixed a vacuum leak and bumped the fuel pressure up. Might it be the air idling sensor or a different problem?

Are you talking about the idle air control?
It should still run without it plugged in i think the computer will default to a base rpm? the iac may be your problem. Or when you or whoever installed the 65mm tbi, the tps sensor may not have been adjusted correctly. I'm not quite sure though so i'll give ya the ttt.

A MAF car should idle without the IAC input. However, unless you set the idle, I would not count on it having been set correctly. Therefore the car could require some IAC air to allow warm idling.
The vac leak was probably what was allowing the car to idle before. Now that you fixed it, the car stalls. And if the idle was set before with the vac leak, that would create this issue now.

Sounds like you just need to reset the idle.

Good luck.

And here is some info on cleaning and setting the idle. Each page offers a different aspect of the procedure.

Good luck.
