The previous owner removed the air pump but left all the other parts in place. The 2 vacuum hoses connected to a couple 2 inch hoses. The hoses are hanging loose on one end and connected to the hard pipe going into the heads on the other end. There is nothing going to the cats.

Will this cause an exhaust leak or will the vecuum prevent that from happening?

yes, exhaust leak will be the result of that setup. Are you running cats or have they been removed? If running cats and no smog pump/piping then they will likely burn up

I was thinking the check valve(yellow) would prevent the exhaust leak but I might be wrong. See the diagram link below.

The new bbk high flow cats are not connected. Will that cause issues?

possibly, but I would either hook it all back up, or yank it if you dont have emissions testing

Yes, you need to hook the air pump back up again. I do not beleive the type of cats used on the BBK pipe are the type that do not need an air pump to inject O2. You want the pump back on.

You are correct. The cats need the air pump. Too bad the guy I bought it from tossed it in the garbage. I don't need the cats to pass inspection so I will remove them. I bet that is why I have a gas smell, the air intake for the cats that goes to the air/smog pump is just hanging there wide open.

there's plenty of those pumps around. You should be able to pick one up REAL cheap

unless you ask around for it....then everyone pulls one out of the back of their garage and wants $80

Had a guy tell me $100 for the pump and all the plumbing once....with a straight face.

I put cats back on my car...so the pump went back on too
