The story of my car ( if you want to skip this part feel free, but it might give you a better understanding of my siduation) .I have had my car for at least 6 months. I bought the car and let it sit for 1 month, drove it for 1 week then it woulden't start. It turns out 306 ohms of restistance in the positive battery cable is enough not to start a car. I had my car towed in to my school, stood out in the parking lot with a DVOM and jumped my car with a set of jumper cables from the possitive side of the battery to the starter relay. The car started and i drove it into the shop and started to disassemble the enginge. I stared to assemble and with the delays of parts store deliverys and machine shops (who claimed they did not bend a connecting rod) I graduated the class with 7 pistons in my block, the motor stayed in my dorm for about 2 months. I finnaly got the funds to get my motor finished, i bolted the heads on with the motor in the back of my truck went to bolt the tranny up and i managed to snap the bell housing of the aod. A buddy had one laying around in his garage with a shift kit but it was located on the other side of the state i made the mission with my buddy, i stayed up for about 27-28 hours of no sleep , i droped my motor and trans. off at the class i graduated, the instuctors of that class understood my siduation. They bolted the trans to the motors and droped the motor/trans. in my car......I only had about a week to get my car running before i graduated another class at this school, me and my buddy tried the best we could to get it to at least crank, no luck ( there was lots of cursing and tons of frustration....don't buy a haynes manual, chilton is the way to go ). The mustang was towed behind a chrysler town and country mini van......a sad..sad..site but it made the 4 hour trip in about 7-8 hours........the car is now sitting outside my house (has been for about a month).........i dont want this car to sit i want the car to run but this is the first motor i built and it has been awhile so i don't know were some things go....but here it goes
the wiring harness is pretty much squared away...except for my O2 sensors ...my H pipe is not bolted on because i still have to set up my trans. linkage. The trans. came out of a 89 t-bird. i used my speedo gear because everything in the car was electric...i reused the neutral safety switch.... another problem is the trans linkage will not adapt to the gear selector on the trans.......the main thing that i dont understand is in the 87 wiring schematic on the negative lead has a small wire on it and acording to the diagrham it goes to the eec module......were? were on the computer does it go?..what does it connect to?........also i did not use my spacer plate on my trans. from my understanging the starter grounds itself to the case but does the case ground to the plate giving it a engine ground i was told it would work with out the spacer...but im clueless.......as far as it goes my car will not crank all i hear is the wind between my fingers and ignition . I replaced the starter relay ,the starter is newer i put it on before i disassemble the motor (i know it works).....if you can give any advice to help me out i gladly aprecieate it ............
( i admit im not the best speller and if you judge me on my spelling.....your a sad....sad individual)
