For awhile my car hasnt been running at its full potential. A few days ago I checked my timing at work with an adjustable timing light and I was getting 35 degrees with the spout out! The car ran OK so I never thought my timing was off that much. I put it down to 16 degrees and plugged the spout back in. On the way home the car felt better, but the next day it ran like s*it. Today I was playing around with the timing w/o a timing light just for s*its and giggles to see if it'll run any better, but made it worse, so I got out our old crappy timing light set the timing back to 16 with the spout out, plugged it back in and checked the timing and it was around 30 degrees at idle with the spout plugged back in so I set that to 16 degrees as well, pulled the spout to make sure my base timing wasnt changed. I pluged the spout back in, still got 16 degrees, reved it some and it went up to around 40 degrees. I took the car out for a drive, the car feels better and sounds better, but it still hesitates when you first take off and it didnt break the tires loose in 2nd gear. Got back, stuck the code scanner on it and got codes 172 and 136 (both oxygen sensors running lean from my LT's) and a 327 which is my EGR valve thats not on my car anymore.
Mods for my car are TW heads, TFS Stage 1 cam, TFS 1.6 RR's, Eddy 5.0 Intake, BBK LT's, BBK o/r H, stock injectors/maf, and I have a set of 245/45/17 street tires on the rear. My car shouldnt have to think twice about being able to spin the tires in 2nd gear, but it struggles just to get a little chirp every now and then. My car also likes to die when I come to a stop when its cold, but once its warm its hard to get it to stall, but does sometimes. It has a fairly steady idle at 850-900rpm. Another thing it does, whenever it stalls when its hot, the car almost wont crank over at all. It almost sounds like that starter isnt getting enough power to turn the engine over. Anyone have any ideas on what could fix my problems? I'm looking for a tweecer so hopefully that'll help out a lot.
