As the story goes…
I took in a one owner 1986 Mustang GT, sight unseen. Yeah, I know.
It was a one owner car and had been sitting in jack stands for 5 years.
I was told it ran and drove but needed some minor repairs.

allegedly)
When it got delivered, it wouldn’t start. I replaced the fluids, changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, battery, and ignition module. The car started, but seemed to have a miss and would stall, or at least try to stall. When the car was shut off or stalled it wouldn’t always restart. I replaced the distributor, correctly, by putting the car to TDC and properly aligning the rotor with cyl 1. I then removed the SPOUT and timed the car with a timing light to 10 degrees. The timing did seem to jump when I was timing it with a light, but it’s hard to determine how many degrees to accurately explain it. The car sounded healthy, but seemed to have a shake or miss and would bog down or stall of the throttle was pushed aggressively. Small throttle inputs seemed fine.
I’m truly at a loss.
When the car is revved, the motor sounds really incredible. However, something still isn’t right. I’m guessing a stretched timing chain?
Please help
