Just got a new alternator for my Vortech'd Bullitt. I didn't even think about it until I installed it and realized there is very little clearance between the alternator and one of the pullies that is part of the blower kit. I mean, you can see there is space between the two but barely. I remember on the old alternator I turned in, that the face looked like it was partially grinded down.

Anyone have to change their alternator out on a Mongoose kit? Did you have to grind the new alternator down?

My Procharger pulley is like a paper width from the front of the alternator. Two sheet may fit but no more. It hasn't rubbed in three years and 35k miles.

same prob here. I have a bullitt intake on my '02. I took a file and ground down some of the alum housing on the alternator. Alum is so soft that it only takes a couple minutes to grind down with a hand file.

Cool. Just to be safe, I went and bought a Porter-Cable 10,000 rpm grinder. Should do the job

It just looks too close for comfort. In fact the pulley has such a tiny bit of play
in it, and if I push it towards the alternator they touch ever so slightly.

Thanks guys.

Turns out the Grinder was a bit too much. A simple $7 hand file was more than up to the task. No clearance issues at all.
