Alternator quit!

I have a paxton novi supercharger and when installing it, the bracketry moved the alternator to the bottom. A few days ago i was driving to work when my amp light came on. I only had 11.5 volts and was running off the battery. The previous day I had to cruise for a bit through pouring rain. Could water splashing up cause an alternator to quit?? Its not like I never drove it in the rain; not often anyway.

I'd also check the extensions that were likely used to extend the wires (if applicable). Make sure your fusible links/circuit protection didnt blow.
