Well guess what my alternator crapped on me just a few minutes ago. :bang: Which sucks!!! Anyone know where is a good cheap!!!! place to get one and I need one fast im gonna start searching in the morning. If you could give me some prices that would be great.
Thanks

I did that the next morning after it happened. If i take it off (which is easy) and take it down there it will be 90 bucks. Not bad but autozone is 129.99 after core plus tax with a 1 year warrenty.

RC The lifetime warrenty one from autozone it 149.99 after core plus tax you think that would be worth it?

I just put an Alterstart 170 amp unit in the '88; it was 135 bucks.

Their 3G (130 amper) was 125 bucks. Lifetime warranty.

Good luck.

RC, was it chromed from Alterstart, when you bought it? Otherwise, it is not uncommon for an alt to get FUBAR'd during chroming (as I am sure you know with all your nice blingity bling :) ).

I would not necessarily blame the alternator itself for that. I am not aware of many folks having issues with the Boss alternators otherwise, which was why I was curious.

Alterstart chromed it...and it had a "lifetime" warranty for "anything" except for burning up :bs: :notnice:

Well guys I'm going tuesday to get mine rebuilt for 90 seems to be the quick fix. Its a local dude that guatentees his work. Which is good for me causee im broke as can be right now. Thanks for all the help guys.
Next time ill get the PA 200 amp powder coated black (sorry RC I dont do chrome) with the premium wire upgrade so i wont have to worry about one for a while.

JT - I had an alterstart unit in my old 95 Gt, never had a problem. Sad to here you had such bad luck RC. They even helped me troubleshoot a charging problem on the phone. Great guys out there.

95WhiteVenom - always has to be something. I just had the same issue. Did a ton of work, went for ride, smoke----scared the hell out of me. Thus all the new wiring and circuit breakers. The alternator just toasted. I talked to PA, and the 200 was just too much for my needs. I did get the powder black one though.

Hope the local shop does a good job for ya. I have seen some great alternators come from local shops.

Thanks shane I hope this works. I just got my headlights fixed finally. It was the ground wire that was lose. Now i finally have working left headlight and turn signal and fogs thank god. Then after we got the lights fixed the alternator crapped out on me.
