HI guys,

I did a search and found a ton of threads in regards to the FRPP Aluminum Driveshaft, but none of them talked about installing it on a automatic. I have an 03 GT automatic, can I just buy the driveshaft and that is all that I need or is there anything else that is needed.

Thanks,

trublustang03:

You need to swap the transmission yoke from the stock d/s onto the new driveshaft. Or, you can buy a new yoke if you prefer to leave the stocker "as is". The Haynes manual ($18) has a write-up on changing out u-joints; you just need a vice or a press.

Actually, Ford Racing makes 2 aluminum driveshafts for automatic and manual transmissions. For an automatic, you need a larger yoke so be sure to get part # 4602-G. The manual transmissions use 4602-J, with the letter being the distinguiser for the type of transmission.

It is an easy install and provided that you have jacks/ good clearance its a snap. To get the bolts off, I had to push with my foot and be sure to use threadlocker when putting them back on.

Good luck!

True that... Most shops only sell the driveshafts that are for Stick cars.. I just switched the yokes (Payed a rear end shop $10 bucks) and it bolted right up..

To my knowledge, Ford no longer makes the G-series driveshaft. Changing the yoke is the only option.

The FRPP shaft for auto's is no longer available. So buy the one for the manual and replace your current yoke with the new one. Very quick and easy. This is a good inexpensive mod ... car noticably revs up faster.
