I've seen 'em advertised before, but I can't remember where. I do remember however that they were really expensive.

i figured that they would be expensive but i'd rather have my driveshaft shatter if it snaps instead of catching on the pavement and flipping my car

aluminum d/s + d/s loop prolly cheaper than cf d/s

isn't the loop only at 1 point on the driveshaft? what if it snaps at another place?

Precision Shaft Technologies makes a carbon fiber driveshaft for close to $600.

thats actually less than i expected. i think the one for my brother's mcoupe was 1200 or so.

If it snaps at the rear, it wouldn't do nearly as much damage as at the front u-joint would it? As long as your weren't going in reverse when it broke I don't think it would flip you over.

stock = 20lbs
aluminum = 14lbs $179 shipped from summit
carbon fiber = 11lbs little over $500 last time i checked

aluminum is good for 2 hp & less vibration.

I know this thread is old but I have had my Aluminum driveshaft for a month now. I can't say I feel any performance increase, but the car does run a bit smoother and I swear I have gained 1-2 mpg since I installed it. I was always dead on at 22 mpg but have now been averaging 23-24 mpg. At least it may pay for itself in a few years.

Al Driveshaft

I just got one and installed it. I had a minor vib after getting 3.73 gears and the shaft got rid of it. More power? You'll never feel it. It's a nice piece and really easy to install. I got mine from Diversified Products for $149 and $13 shipping. Very fast service.
