Aluminum Driveshaft

Ok, from what ive read on here, the FRPP aluminum driveshaft is lighter and stronger than stock, pretty inexpensive, and pretty easy to install. 1) Is all this true? 2) It says on pretty much every website that its listed on that because of the reduced rotational mass it puts more of the HP the engine makes to the wheels. This checks out in my head, but is this true? If so how much more (%-wise) does it put down? and finally 3) Any increased noise with it? Yes, the driveshaft is lighter, stronger, and extemely easy to install. It should theoretically (sp?) free up more hp, but don't count on any SOTP feel. It feels no different at all than stock. I have no additional noise from stock. Its just nice to know that you have a driveshaft that is stronger and lighter. Especially for us s/c'd guys.

It will also help with any type of vibration you might get with aftermarket gears

Is there a difference between an alum shaft for a manual as opposed to an auto. I didn't see two shafts or part numbers listed so I assume they are the same for both trannies. Anyone know for sure??? I have an 03 MACH 1 with a 5 spd.

got mine from gefracing together with my ds loop and 4.10.

install for DS was like 15 seconds litterally...

Would there be any point in the upgraded driveshaft for a car that will most likely remain NA? Mentioned above, there is supposedly not much gain in power. Anyone else have input on that?

Personally, a driveshaft is low on my priority list. If you are putting down serious HP, I think it is a good mod. It may also be a good mod if you have rear-end vibration due to gears. But it will give little SOTP increase, so I will save my cash for other mods. Just my $.02, your situation and needs may be different.

Just puchased mine from PartShopper for $190 shipped. But I have seen them for around $175.

I have an Aluminum Driveshaft.
I installed it 2 weeks after my 4.10's.
I think my Triax vibrates a little less but that's about it.
My car was always smooth even with the gears.
However, I am still glad I did it.
The stock DS looks like a peice of garbage.

Anyhow, have anyone ever took the time to dyno the car, install the alum DS, then re-dyno and see if the hp actually increased?

Yeah I was wonderin the same thing.... I can't imagine it would be that great of a difference. Oh and anyone know how much lighter it is than stock?

I believe the aluminum one is 8 lbs lighter than stock.

Regarding SOTP results, my car sure seems to reach revs quicker.

Look at it this way, you're making more power without increasing fuel use, you're making the engine more efficient at getting the power to the ground.
