hey guys, here's a question for you. i did a search for what im looking for, but i couldn't find it. im wondering what a shelby style hood would look like on an alcopoco blue 68'? am i crazy in considering this and would it look just plain stupid? or is it actually a good idea?

i you guys know of anyone that has done this and has pics, please post some.

My 65 was just painted acapulco blue. I fell in love with the color when the convertible next to mine in the paint shop was painted the same blue. The only difference between the two cars is that mine is not a shelby. The other car was an original shelby convert. It's amazing how they look the same stripped of all paint, but the other one is worth about 10x what mine is. The hood may be on it by now. Body shop is closed till monday. I'll check and see if the hood is on it.

I think it'd look great. Just make sure you get a nice hood, the price difference between a nice hood and a poopy hood just isn't worth it. I've seen a Mustangs Unlimited Shelby hood before they did any work and I thought it looked outstanding.

HEY!!! mustangs unlimited hood was the EXACT model i was looking at.

i was trying to get a look that is a classic mustang with my favorite color of blue, thats a little different, and i thought the shelby hood would be a nice touch.

thanks alot guys.

still open to suggestions.

Ideal car:

68' mustang coupe

acapulco blue
289
holly 4-barrel carb or 3 duces
hooker headers
thrush glasspacks
15x6 cragar ss rims
black interior
4-spd manual
and now..... shelby hood!

I don't want to sound prejudice, but if you're into blue, check out House of Kolor's Lapis Blue in the Glamour Metallic series. My stripes are that color and I think it looks great in the sun. My wife picked it, and I wasn't too crazy about it, but once it was on the car, I fell in love with it. It's just a touch darker than Acapulco Blue and it's one of the "bluest" blues I've ever seen. This pic isn't the best, and it looks much, much better in the sun, but you get the idea.

do a search for username 6800GT, he had a 68 coupe in acapulco blue that he added a 67 shelby hood to plus an eleanor front valance and 68 cal special rear 'glass and side scoops.

EDIT: hhis username might be 68&00GT, i can't remember for sure.
