Am I missing something???

Hey all

I started what should've been a five minute job yesterday changing the passenger tie rod end.............We'll after a couple hours I got fed up. The tie rod is off the spindle and ready to just screw off right? We tried everything and the end will not budge an inch. Has anyone had a similar problem or am I missing something?? I've done these jobs many times before and never had a problem.

Anyone out there have an idea or should I just go by a new rack?

Thats weird. With the jam nut out of the way, that tie rod end should move easily once it is off the spindle. Maybe someone used locktite on the tie rod end? Try using some PB Blaster and some pliers or something to get that thing loose.

Believe me theres enough penetrating oil in there when it does come loose I may have to call a hazmat team. and I used a wrench with a three foot pipe to try and turn the damn thing.......

have you tried taking a hot wrench to it? (a torch)

If using a torch, be very careful of all that lube you put on it (fire danger).
