Has anyone gotten one of these systems? If so, how's it sound, perform, improve fuel economy, etc? Also, what'd you pay for it?

I decided against the side exhaust because the two are just so expensive. Any other viable alternatives to this Flowmaster exhaust setup?

I have it. It sounds great, just louder than stock and not "different" like some of the open exhausts out for our stang. As far as fuel economy, don't expect anything different, but Anderson Ford did a nice online dyno test of exhausts vs stock and the performance is better in some rpm ranges. The top difference was only about 2hp, but the rpm from 2000-3000 was about 40 lbs of torque which I could feel when I drove it. I only paid $150 because a local shop had one off a customers car that was wrecked, but I've seen them for around $270 on the net. There are some cheaper systems out there, but Flowmaster did a lot of R&D to keep the resonation down and get the right sound from the system. Not worth saving $75 too me.

i had one of the very first flowmaster kits on my 05. i had it drop shipped directly from flowmaster, because nobody had them in stock yet. no complaints at all. it is a little deeper than stock, with minimal drone. i added an O/R H pipe, and it really wakes up the sound, but you get more noticable drone at 2500 RPM. with the stock H, hard to notice.

at cruising speeds, they are VERY quiet, which is nice for road trips. give it some gas, and you get a great sound. good combo, IMO.

I have the Flowmaster kit for my 06. It does sound mellow inside but everyone says it really loud when on the gas. ( I do have a CAI which is pretty big though) It does have the nice flowmaster sound also. SOTP feel? Nothing. Flowmaster claims a slight hp gain, dont believe it, but I just got it to wake up the stock sound. The polished tips fit nicely in the cutouts in the rear also.

I have them, got them at Summit Racing where I get everything for my cars for 275 delivered. Got them in 1 day! easy install, sounds great. I wanted to try the ford racing GTA model axle back but it was back ordered forever when I was ordering so I decided on the flowmaster kit.

Awesome thanks guys. I appreciate it. That torque gain you spoke of is pretty substanial one would think. I mean going from 320 to 360 lbft is a pretty big boost. Plus it's all about torque anyways.

I'm sorry, but there is absolutely no way that an axle-back kit added 40lb's of torque. I'm willing to bet you think there is a gain because of the louder sound (placebo, plus wishful thinking). As for the link to Ford doing the test, something must have been misread.

It has been documented over and over that axle-backs do practically nothing for performance, just sound.

I agree, no 40lbs of torque gain! More for sound then anything.
