I drove to work 2 days ago, speakers sounded great like usual. then when i get out of work today i come outside put my faceplate back on and turn the music on and turn it up and the subs bumps like usual and no sound from speakers. when you turn the key on and turn the headunit on u hear static even if a cd is playing for like 1 second and then back to no sound. i went in the back and looked at my amp and the amp is powered on with no problem. played with the wires a little bit and still nothing. RCA's are in good, speakers wires are connected fine.

It doesnt make any sense. yesterday it worked half way to work up loud and wouldnt stay on it cut out. the power on amp stays on with no problem tho. ater the 10 min or so it was wokrking it dont work at all it will cut out constantly or not work all together. i think my amp is blown or something. when the speakers arent playing anything you hear like a weird noise on and off every few seconds out of the speakers. it doesnt get louder with the volume tho.

this setup has been like this since december 05 with no problems.

what do you guys think?

Anything is appreciated. I've checked the basics. I've been in the car audio for a long time. i just can't figure this one out.

One thing you could try is to take out a speaker and just use a small length wire and wire it to your amp like that, just to make sure your wires are all good still. Just a thought. If problem is still there, you have at least elimated one question. My personal thoughts are that you may have an amp that has died on you. Good luck.

you should try it with a different radio, i had a radio that did that and i had to punch it a few times and it worked. also it would turn up by itself and i had to punch it and then i had to turn it back down. i had a pioneer that the rca jacks burned out. although it did not do that. if it is the amp, it may have overheated, do you have the right cable for it. is it mounted to the box or where is it.

Well just tested with my dad's amp and so far it only will work with battery being charged or with engine running. other then that the speakers cut out like crazy. they will only stay playing with no cutting out with the engine on/car running.

I'm desperate. at least it seems like i got 1 problem out of the way, that being the amp was bad!

now i gotta figure this other thing out. my battery is'nt low i know that. it never ever did this before since ive had the same system setup for like 7 months now
