i pulled the codes for my car yesterdayand when i called around to different part store trying to price o2 sensors i called autozone(:nono: )...well i went thru the spill of what kind of car and size motor....then the person said which sensor is it...i said the o2 sensor and she was like i mean is it the front ones in front of the cats or the back ones....i said their are no back ones i only have 2...she said that her pc said their are four so i have four...i said i don't care what your pc says i only have 2, but to stop argueing i said ok, the ones in front of the cats...she was like i can't tell you, because i'm not sure which ones are them....:bang: i said look, the gt's and the cobra's only came with 2, the v6's came with 4...so she kept on argueing....i was like fine thank you...and hung up....:SNSign:

I used to love it when they always asked if it had A/C...um sure if it will get the part faster. I can see the question if it had something to do with the problem but come on.

Not to focus on the avg. number of retards who work there. I feel I need to express the shock I had not too long ago. I was looking for a rubber hose to part of the air pump lines. 3 places said go to a dealer, 2 places actually looked around and on the computer. I just went into an autozone as it was on the way. The guy looked at it and came back with 2 diff. hoses that were damn near a perfect match. One was perfect with alittle extra length at one end and one had a little smaller inside dia. Didnt use a computer...ask one question...just looked at me and said one second...BAM. I was impressed to say the least.

I went get a belt and they asked if I had A/C.
when I told them yes they asked if it was dealer or factory installed. I said WTF does that have to do with it? give me the ****ing belt already.

sounds like the guy at auto zone that found your hose was probley an employee at a better auto parts store... no way those retards could figure any thing out...

and the a/c question about factory or dealer ....that question came up on our systems too.. never for a mustang!!! but for some vans and stuff and the compressors were mounted in diff. locations so it made it a different length belt.

never knew ford made a mustang that got shipped out to dealers with out a/c ....except for a gts

Since im one of the idiots that works at Advance Auto...

Dont you think its kinda hard for somebody to know every little nuance about every car made? I mean, sure, we know that our cars only have 2 O2s or all have A/C, but somebody who has never worked on one wouldnt know that, and they will go by what the computer says.

i worked selling auto part for 5 years and relying on a computer is a bad thing to do use the catalogs and go to semenars i went through soooooo much training guess advance and auto zone are not in the game when it comes to training

I feel ya mang. I work on a fair number of vehicles and I can't keep the crap straight (nor things like which engine management systems do what or act in a given way).

I cannot stand the computers - they're probably nice for you guys 90% of the time, but a lot of the less savvy employees simply depend upon them too much. I will ask people to pull catalogs and I have to look things up myself (the computer takes away that familiarity with the old paper books).

FWIW, my favorite parts place has rows and rows of catalogs and let me tell ya, the good employees can work those catalogs faster than the computers can (after you get done entering in how full your tank is, if the car has leather seats, etc).

Anyhow, keep up the good work!

bought my o2 sensors from advanced for $45 a piece....now don't get me wrong i know alot of people know nothing about cars, or just what they see on screen...the point i was trying to make was that she argued over something she really knew nothin about....its like arguing a v6 and a v8.... another coworker of mine got a new pontiac vibe today....i asked her was it an automatic or manual...she looked at me serious and says its a 4 cylinder.... i was like ok....and said thats not what i asked....she says ooohhhhh its and automatic....i just put my hand over my face and laughed....

I used to work for advance auto parts. And I agree with MI95Cobra. Most people working at these stores are completly clueless about what they are doing. I know that pre96 GT's only have 2 o2's but the computers there still classify front and rear so I always ignored it and got them front. But the people I work with would get into arguements with customers about that and I would simply walk up interupt tell my coworkers to go on register while I helped customers. I went threw a hell of a lot of training at advance and well it got to the point where customers would walk in and look for me or on my days off I would get calls from the store about customers asking for me so I could answer a question. Even questions that the people there should know like what weight oil people should use with what mileage and size engine. But dont worry man not all the store are full of clueless people you just have to fine that one person in the store who likes helping people and stick with that person when you have a problem.:flag:
