I noticed this morning that my dash lights seem to go on and off by themselves. I had the headlights on and once in a while the dash lights would go out for a while and then come back on. Other than them being broken, is it possible it works off the sensor that turns on the auto headlights? They went off while I was sitting in traffic under a bridge (dark) and then went on a bit further down the road where it got lighter.

They make new pistons every day, so why worry?

The sensor sits on the center of the dash just behind the windshield, I've notice driving at dawn on the highway my car seems to do the same as what you describe

I figured there was a sensor - and saw the one on the dash - makes sense to me...

Yeah, when you're at the borderline of day/night for the cars sensors, they can come on and off as it get lighter and darker from from various reasons.

I noticed the same thing yesterday. It was mid-afternoon and cloudy, kind of ominous weather.
