Ok, i have been surfing the net now for a couple days and i found most of the stuff i am going to use on my project this winter. One thing i am having a hard time finding is a good aftermarket intake for the 1996 4.6l SOHC. Ok, so there is the bullit one, but how good is it and does it bolt onto npi heads? Is there any other choices?? Am i just looking in the wrong places and there is a ton of them somewhere. Any suggestions on intake manifolds guys? thanx :SNSign:

Check it out.

If you use the search button at the top of the page, I'm sure that you will find more information on cold air intakes than you ever wanted to know.

If you are unsure of how to use the search button, I can help ...

First click search:

Then you can click 4.6L mustang and type CAI into the search box like so:

He isn't asking about cold air intakes.. Maybe you should re-read what he typed before posting that

Anyways I suggest going with a PI Intake swap 96SC.

This is the performance intake for NPI's
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=3330
Its actually what the bullitt was copied from.
You can find it cheaper...actually one for sale on corral for $600

Unfortunetly there aren't as many aftermarket intake manifolds for 4.6s out there as there are for the 5.0. If you want to stick with non-PI you might try looking for the SVO intake manifold for non-PI heads. It's a lot like the Bullitt manifold (or maybe I should say the bullitt is a lot like it). I believe Sean Hyland Motorsports and Livernois have them for sale. If I remember correctly it'll run you about $1600 give or take.
On the other hand PI heads are about $400 each with about $200 for the manifold and $300 for an upper and TB. Which would put you more in the $1000 ballpark. A little cheaper, and I think (dont quote me) you'll still come out on top as far as BHP goes. Plus you could use the extra $600 on other mods which might get you a couple more extra ponies.
Hope I was helpful.

Edit: Ok guess I missed that last reply SHM and Livernois has the manifold for $1400-1600. The price might include an install kit...I dont know.

You can buy the edlebrock intake, and then do the 5.0L car swap mod, lol.

Im with d98gt, just get a PI intake ($200.00) and be done with it. It makes the same hp as the aftermarket intakes ($500.00 +).

We are talking about the PI intake, not the heads. You won't have a compression jump with the PI inake and/or cams.
