Looking for an 06 convertible, V-6 with the Pony Pkg and Auto Trans. as the only two options.
Windveil Blue with charcoal cloth seats or Legend Lime with parchment seats.
Southeastern VA dealers not very cooperative.

One dealer told me they would not honor my A plan as of Aug of this year. The dealer that WILL get my business when I order in January, said no problem. Both are in the Cincy OH area. With the v 6 that are starting to collect at the dealers that may change their stance. Good luck.

Got mine under an X plan in August of this year, even though the dealer had to look all over creation to find a 'red' manual 5-spd V6 (which I was insistent about). I was told that I probably have the only manual V6 in the area as most people buy autos! Finally found one in Ohio and gave me the X for it. I guess that makes mine "rare" LOL!

Got mine in May on the X-Plan. They wouldn't do it on the GT but told me I could order one on the X-Plan but would have to wait several months. I didn't want to wait.

Anyone happen to know the number of 5spd v6s produced in 05? They do seem kinda rare for some reason. I know production didnt start until Jan 01 with some few exceptions, but I dont think it'd have that dramatic affect on the distribution.

I am not sure of the number, but I could not find a manual 05 in the DC Metro area for anyhting and had to eventually order an 06 with one. I am glad that I did, as I got everything that I wanted and more. Even though the traffic here is abysmal, I thought that a manual would almost be a given on a Mustang, especially a V6.

Got mine yesterday

Picked mine up yesterday, 06 Pony Edition. Got in on the X-Plan. Though had the owner of the dealership not interceded (see my other post on this) I don't think they would have done it.

Pony Pkg with the manual tranny?

Exhooah,
You did ok. For some reason you can't order a Pony pkg with the maual tranny. You may have a rare 2006.
Anyway, the Ford dealers think they have gold. I still see a car that will depreciate eventually. Since they don't want to deal, I have started looking at Saab and Audi verts. My wife really dislikes our 01 GT vert. Maybe she'll
like another make.

Absolutely not true

I ordered my car sep 25th and it is a Manual Tranny Pony Package. Who said you could not get a Manual Transmission?

I misplaced my dora, but I'll post a pic of the interior tomorrow. Keep an eye out for a new thread - Tungsten Grey Pony -. We've had rain for what seems like 40 days and 40 nights, but I'll post what I got.

Link to a pic of the car is in my sig.

Here is a pic of the interior and one of the window sticker and one of the car. Look at the top right corner for the drive train info.

Manual Pony Pakage

Nice looking car. Good luck with it.
If you go to the Ford website and Build Your Own, when you select the Pony
Package you get a pop-up that says you must select the auto tranny.
Anyway, my wife is pushing for a Saab 93 vert. A friend of hers has one and the woman
loves it. I am sure Ford isn't going to miss one Mustang sale.

Thanks for the compliment.

Not to highjack the thread, but I love the car. My 02 has a bit more torque, but it's a completely different driving experience when you factor in the chassis and traction control of the 06. This is an all weather capable car and though my 02, witch is lowered, handles like its on rails in good weather, the 06 takes on rain like nothing I've driven... not even my 98 Grand Cherokee was this good.
I like both looks 99+ and 05+, but the s197 edges out all that came before ; The sound of the 4.0 is a tad batter than the 3.8 and does not have the 3.8's inherent big air pump noise. And the exhaust note on the 06 factory system is really good. I don't know if there is some tuning differences in the exhaust, but it sounds even better than my friends 05 did when it was stock.

FYI Jaki30 - I used the build and price and never got the pop-up. I just went and tried again and no matter what I picked, the 5 speed auto always remained a choice, but was never forced. Could be zip related; who knows. When did you try to build? - On the SAAB, good choice. Fried has the 9-2X Aero and it's a pretty neat car... Not something I'd opt for over a GT if I was going to spend 28K, but that's personal choice. Good luck with whatever you get.

Still shows the pop=up

http://www9.forddirect.fordvehicles...State=ConfigPage&xefrProd=2490147&statetoken=

Also, if you go to the Edmunds website, select Mustang 6 cyl Premium Convert, look up the options, the Pony Package says it requires option 44L, the auto tranny.

Find it hard to believe it is zip related (23188). Oh, well doesn't make any difference now.

Validation...

The pop up only seems to appear on the CONVERTIBLE with a Pony Package. The COUPE allows the manual. Checked with various zip codes. VERY STRANGE..

Yep, the only thing I did not try was the Vert.

Very odd that they would do that. Jaki is proof the decision to restrict the manual in the vert-pony package combo is costing them sales. I'd love to see the been counter reson behind that decision.

Manual not the reason

Let me clarify. The reason I decided not to buy the Stang is not the lack of a
manual tranny. It is the inability to purchase the car I want under the X-Plan.
If I have to pay list price for a 6 cyl. Mustang convertible, it opens the door
to many other possible cars to look at.
I find it difficult to believe the 6 cyl is not available for the X-plan.
My 01 GT vert was 27k in Oct 00. Now, 5 yrs later, the best I can get is 13k
on a 25k mile excellent car. The 6 cyl won't hold even this value in 5 yrs. yet,
it lists for the same price as the 01 GT. The dealers want list.
At X-plan, I would have purchased. Like I said Ford, obviously, doesn't need
my purchase. Fortunately, this is a case of I wnat a new car, not that I need
a new car. The Saab dealer is much more agressive then the Ford people.
