the stock brace is more or less for show. if you get a real one on there like a maximum motorsports that ties the strut towers into the points it uses that are actually strong you will be more likely to notice a difference

It also looks no stronger than stock...you get what ya pay for...Heck you even said you had to modify it to fit and even then its not bolted down 100%

Find out for yourself. Take off your stocker and take it for a drive. If you happen to feel any difference whatsoever it will hardly be noticable. It wont hurt anything to remove it. Your car wont blow up or anything. Its 6 bolts and 3 minutes of your time. Take it off and see if you can feel any difference. You'll see that in the end, the stock STB is just one more thing to get in your way and to weigh down your car. Aftermarket STBs may be worth it. I dunno. I've never tried one. But the stock STB is barely worth having.

It's also protection..not just "feel"

GTPhreak..True, you get what you pay for..but there is a not that big a difference from the mac to the MM..for DOUBLE the amt. There is a greater difference between nothing and the MAC, for 1/2 the price. You have to pay for quality, but only to a certain extent.. I just think the MM are ripping people off because their product is "different"

If you did have to get an aftermarket one, then what style is best? The type that is in the shape of a triangle and mounts in the center of the firewall, the type that is almost in the shape of a triangle but has seperate mounting points, or the type that looks more like a ladderbox frame and mounts in each corner of the firewall? I think they make it too complicated but which is probably best (no regards to looks that is)?

It may be indirectly for protection but it is designed as a suspension part. I'm talking about it in its literal sense.
