Have a stock auto GT, only mod is a JBA axle back. Thinking about going to a local track day in June here just to see, but have never done it before, and don't really want to embarrass myself not knowing exactly how to get the best launch/time - any suggestions?

Those numbers seem a little off...my best time (bone stock, first time at the track) was a 14.3 @ 98.26. How were you 7 tenths ahead of me but only one mph faster? You should have been nicely over 100 with that quick of a 1/4.

Anyway, 14.3 @ 98.26 is my bone stock track time. It's a manual.
Without wheel-hop, I'm sure I could get under 14.0 without a problem.

I had a 2.08 60 foot time, and that was what motortrend tested as well

There was a 5-speed manual with 98 miles on the car that went 13.4@101
the same day

If you consider a K&N, Mac Prochamber and Predator tuner still stock, I had the following time slips the first time I went to a 1/4 track:

Run 1
1.2518 Reaction
2.2440 60 ft
9.4893 1/8 ET @ 77.11 MPH
14.5746 1/4 ET @ 96.48 MPH

Run 2
1.1410 Reaction
2.2383 60 ft
9.4640 1/8 ET @ 77.41 MPH
14.5419 1/4 ET @ 96.48 MPH

Run 3
0.7418 Reaction
2.3541 60 ft
9.7140 1/8 ET @ 76.60 MPH
14.8172 1/4 ET @ 96.26 MPH

Run 4
0.6751 Reaction
2.2576 60 ft
9.5585 1/8 ET @ 77.02 MPH
14.6523 1/4 ET @ 96.44 MPH

The track near me is a 1/8 mile track and on my second visit, I got the following best runs:

Run x
60': 1.876
1/8: 9.277 @ 77.73 MPH

Run y
60': 2.155
1/8: 9.157 @ 78.22 MPH

Some people claim the general rule is to take your 1/8 ET and multiply it by 1.56 to estimate your 1/4 ET. With that, I would be at 14.2-14.3 on my stock tires. I do spin at launch and at the 1-2 shift so I know I can do better with sticky tires.

Edit: I just realized this is the 2005 forum. I have an 04 GT. Sorry.

I have a 5 speed manual..ran last Saturday...total of 4 runs and about 3500 miles on car:
13.745 at 103.38 (60' at 2.194)
13.775 at 102.17 (60' at 2.151)
13.785 at 102.64 (60' at 2.180)
13.843 at 103.79 (60' at 2.215 - bad wheel spin and minor wheel hop)

I was a little dissapointed (but had a blast) but I think it has a lot to do with my 60' times. I am still running on the stock Pirelli's and think my times could go way down with a little wider rubber. What do you think the time savings would be with a wider tire or even a drag radial? How about 4.10 gears time savings?

ShadowBok,
You asked the question of how the guy could have a time that much faster while only having one MPH faster. Well you basically answered that question for me when you stated that you had some wheel hop. The other guy probably hooked up better than you did. This also explains why you can sometimes have the same E.T. whlie having diff mph and vice versa. If you lower your 60ft time without modifying your car, chances are that your ET's will drop without changing your MPH much if any.

4511.21 i was thinking WOA a 103.79 trap stock??? Then I seen your mods LOL, had me worried a stock 05 could trap like that. I never raced an 05, wish I would run into one though. Did beat a SRT-4 that said he beat an 05. Supposedly had 2 friends hen he beat the 05, had 3 friends when I beat him.(he hit it first and I caught him and passed him) Ill run it at fun ford so we will see.

Wow, if some guys are getting 14+ seconds in the 1320, traction and shifting are the culprits. Ouch

My slowest time is 14.0 ran a couple 13.5's alot of 13.6's and 13.7's. Got to lower the rear pressure to 25 psi,and slip the clutch alot, thats what got me a 2.05 60ft.

Those are some damn fine #'s for stock GT's. Nice cars guys.

I remember when 15.1 was considered fast (and it was at the time, for stock) we have come a long way in 20 years.

Yep...it seems like I have strong car with he high trap speed...I'm just getting nailed on the 60' times. I had the stock pirelli 235's at 35 psi as least. There is my reason for going back to the track this weekend...lower the psi to 25 and see if it helps!

but a buddy of mine is going 13.0 w/ just a tuner and CAI...stock tires also.
