Anyone have any suggestions to modify my N/A 2001 Cobra... I currently have : Densecharger intake, JBA Headers, Magnaflow catted x-pipe (soon to be upr catless), Flowmaster 40 series mufflers, FRPP 3.73 gears, Eibach pro-kit, #4 Crossmember (differential), IRS Bushings, Steeda Tri-ax shifter, Hypertech tuner (for gears)... I'm looking to add a little more bang to that combo, but I'm not looking to break the bank. Anyone have any ideas on what else I can do to put some more power to the wheels??? I'm sitting at 301 rwhp and 305 Torque, and I want to see numbers around 320 or so without having a supercharger or nitrous.

I see you do not have a dyno tune listed. Surprised since it looks like you have put a lot of time and money into it, how come no tune? I think a nice tune may net you 15 more hp.

What can they really adjust on a tune??? It's all computer controlled, can't adjust timing right? Fuel and Air ratios are also controlled that way.... So what could a dyno tune do other than just pretty much tell me what I already know... I'm not 100% positive that they AREN'T adjustable, just wondering if that's possible on the 01's cause I heard otherwise... thx

Everything is controlled through the computer....a tune can up timing, change the a/f maps, and compensate for the gear change. I don't think a tune will give you 15RWHP though. Since you added the JBA's your a/f ratio may have been affected, so a tune would probably make the car feel stronger across the entire RPM range.

Next bolt-on should be some Steeda pulleys.

320 is kinda high for those mods.

I would say a tune and MAF, TB, pullies to get you close...

301 is a high number to start with. I know that the 01's produce good power.

The best NA numbers I have seen were my buddies 03 Mach one with Bassani mids, cattless x-pipe and a bassani catback with a TB, pullies, CAI, diablo was 305 with a tune.

Mach 1's make a little more power than the Cobra's.

I wasn't saying I was EXPECTING 320 out of those mods, I was stating what my dyno pull was... I'm looking to pick up another 20 or so without spending more than $250-400.... Will a custom chip do the same as getting it dyno tuned? ... What throttle bodies are available for my car? And what about the MAF??? I don't want to go too high with one, cause I heard you can go to large and start losing power...

As stated - Pulleys and Dynotune will get you close to 320. The tune and a chip are together. Just a chip is not as good. MAF is not worth it, but may give you a couple of horses at best. A good tuner can get you some more timing. Throttle bodies are worth nothing NA on a 99-2001 cobra. After those mods - the intake is the bottleneck. Port and polish, maybe a short runner if you don't mind the low end torque loss. Personally, I won't do the short runner but hope to port/polish the intake. After that - you need to get into the heads - port and polish. I've heard better cams are avail - FR500, Crower stage II, 2003/4 Mach 1 heads/cams. Not very cost effective for the gains from what I have seen so far. Too bad you have 3.73's. 4.10's or 4.30's would have been better.

I went with 3.73's cause I don't do a LOT of drag racing, and I didn't want to kill my gas milage too bad, I wanted an in between... 3.55 weren't enough and 4.10's were too much... What would an estimate be on a tune and chip? And I U/D Pulleys... I heard don't really net you much horsepower for the trouble... And as far as it goes... with the U/D pullies wouldn't I need to buy a shorter Serpentine belt? or would I just use the same one? P/P Intake is a mod to come up later on before I add forced induction, as well as forged internals. But I'm looking to add just a little more bite to my snake... again thx for the suggestions... And does anyone know if the Diablo handheld tuner is worth the trouble and money???

Chip = $150, tune = $100 ish. Pulleys will get you 8hp approximately. The stock belt works just fine - it's an easy mod. It sounds like you are considering forced induction for later. (sorry, didn't see that earlier) In that case, forget the pulleys. Also, if you are considering a Kenne Bell SC don't p/p on the upper intake. It gets replaced with their kit. I'd forget the Diablo chip/tuner. Find a reputable tuner in your area. You will have to go with whatever chip he is using.

Your sig speaks for itself.

GilletterMy same buddy with the Mach bought FR500 cams and had his heads and intake ported.

367 rwhp. Go to Machoneregistry.org. His name is Kerleyfries. PM him. He will help you out.

He just knocked off a 11.80@114.

There ya go.
