I was wondering if it was worth putting one of those on there. I'm going to eventually have a shelby style scope on my hood and figured it might help to have the top of the filter open with the filter?

I used one for a while, I took it off with about 500 miles on it.
I'll sell it to you for 60% retail plus shipping - I paid $65 so that would be about $40 then.
I have a very tight fit and I wanted to run a small spacer under the carb and found out that with the right combination of drop base, filter height, and lids I could get it all to fit....and the K&N didn't fit because of its design.
i´ve changed from the classical aftermarket "Hi-Po 289" chrom filter to the K&N XStream and i think it´s worth the money. Especially when you have cool air from a scoop it should even be better. Just my personal opinion.
I have the first gen and it works great. Thought I will say you can hear the sucking sound more prounounced now. The cold air scoop will definately help with this combination.
Thanks dodgestang, I'm not really looking to buy right now was just curious for when I get the hood if it worked. I heard from some cheby guys that it made performance worse...don't see how but what do they know they just have cameros
